Help Me Please

Help Me Please

The transformation of a simply horrendous triangular plot 15m x 6m, dominated by a pebbledashed garage and tarmac drive, for our longest standing client of more than 20 years, who was a retired pensioner on a limited budget, also provided an opportunity for us to mentor a newly qualified designer. Whilst the clients bungalow suited her needs perfectly, she cried out, ‘honestly anything will be better than the current state ( of the garden). Just want a space I can enjoy with family and friends.’

A low maintenance garden with a  smart, cost effective terrace and raised beds to create planting opportunities away from the horrid clay and flint, also provided places to perch, potter and plant.

A pergola and cantilevered arches provided height and a frame for a bespoke oak swing, doubling as a striking focal point, engraved with words to remember her late son and husband who she lost in recent years.

Smart and simple, the solution is so elegant, is accessible for her in future years and yet incorporates a small lawn for the grandchildren to picnic on and walls to clamber along.

Rarely has a solution provided such non stop smiles for client, designer and the build team.
