A garden inspired by water

Created less than two years ago, a dramatic transformation has been achieved in this garden. Once a barren wasteland, the acre of land is now a mature and established water garden and a haven for wildlife.

Wasteland

garden-design-company-water-garden-3Foxes have been seen drinking from the ponds’ edge whilst ducks have arrived in year two. Whether they can live in harmony remains to be seen. The plants were carefully chosen to reflect the different habitats in and around the pond. Deep water aquatics were dominated by simple white lillies, whilst Scirpus, a simple tall elegant rush, provides the backbone marginal plantings.

Months of flower were provided by the water forget me knot, primulas and frothy Meadowsweet, whilst Fritillarias have started to colonise the beds around the pond. Further away mixed native hedging has been planted to merge with the wider landscape with the bund of excavated soil being planted with silver birch and sown with a drought tolerant meadow mixture. Meanwhile the staggered boardwalk provides an irresistible enticement to explore what lies across the pond.

Ash dieback
We pride ourselves in not just sending a bill and saying goodbye. Instead, we are there for the long term proactively nipping any potential challenges in the bud and monitoring our gardens. Hence with the pond above, we later supplied and installed Barley Straw bales and physically swept a pond of Blanket Weed in April to prevent the weed from taking hold. This meant that when  summer  arrived, the garden proved to be the perfect haven to sit back, relax and enjoy!

Meanwhile in another garden  we discovered what sadly looks like our first case of Ash Die Back, but steps were immediately taken to fell and remove the tree in an attempt to prevent its spread. Such advice, support and professionalism we feel, sets us apart from conventional contracting companies, as we are able to offer the long term relationships and the peace of mind that to our clients, is priceless.
